तुम्हारा Kubernetes cluster एक दशक के operational दर्द पर चलता है। Runbooks जो रात 3 बजे उन engineers ने लिखे जो सुबह तक इस्तीफा देने की कसमें खा रहे थे। SLOs जो ऐसी meetings में तय हुए जहां किसी ने सच में रोकर दिखाया। Error budgets जिनकी रक्षा ऐसे हुई जैसे दिवाली से पहले Big Bazaar की आखिरी parking spot बचानी हो। Production में हर container ने अपनी जगह इंसानी तकलीफों से कमाई है।
तुम्हारी company के AI agents, जो इस quarter ship हुए, उनके पास इसमें से कुछ नहीं है। Health check? Undefined। Error budget? हंसी आती है। Runbook? एक Slack thread जिसका नाम #ai-stuff है और जिसमें आखिरी बार फरवरी में किसी ने पोस्ट किया था। On-call rotation? शायद वो intern जिसने demo बनाया था।
Cloud Next '26 में 22 अप्रैल को, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian ने agents को VMs और containers के साथ first-class infrastructure primitives बताया — load-bearing components जो तुम्हारा cloud natively चलाता है। नया Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform वो सारी vocabulary लेकर आया है जो container engineers को जानी-पहचानी लगेगी: Agent Runtime, Agent Registry, Agent Gateway, Agent Identity। Google ने partner development के लिए $750 million commit भी किए। अकेले Deloitte का दावा है कि उनके पास 1,000+ pre-built agents deploy के लिए तैयार हैं। एक हज़ार agents। Zero runbooks। खूबसूरत।
"Infrastructure primitive" एक contract है। जब तुम किसी चीज़ पर load-bearing का ठप्पा लगाते हो, तो उसे पूरा treatment मिलता है: SLOs, error budgets, on-call rotations, incident response, restart procedures। Google ने ठप्पा लगा दिया। Treatment? शामिल नहीं है।
Google ने क्या ship किया: Agent Observability (visual tracing कि क्या हुआ), Agent Evaluation (performance scoring), Agent Simulation (synthetic workload testing)। सब useful plumbing है। सब पूरी तरह बात से भटकी हुई। Tracing तुम्हें postmortem दिखाती है। Reliability engineering बुखार पकड़ती है इससे पहले कि मरीज़ की हालत बिगड़े। अगर तुम ये channel पढ़ते रहे हो, तो argument जानते हो — हमने दो हफ्ते पहले tracing के बारे में, और दो दिन पहले 3 AM operational blindness के बारे में बात की थी। Google के keynote ने दोनों gaps को बेहतर slide design और stage budget के साथ repackage कर दिया।
Data भी बेहतर नहीं हुआ है। जनवरी की Catchpoint SRE Report: सिर्फ 13% organizations को AI/ML reliability monitor करने में confidence है। एक तिहाई ने कभी production में failure test ही नहीं किया। UC Berkeley के MAST failure rates — multi-agent systems में 41–86.7% — भी तुमने इस channel पर इतनी बार देखे हैं कि किसी party में सुना सकते हो। लेकिन असली कहानी अब वो number नहीं है। असली कहानी ये है कि महीनों से किसी ने कोई बेहतर number produce नहीं किया। कोई agent reliability measure नहीं कर रहा क्योंकि किसी ने define ही नहीं किया कि agent के लिए "reliable" का मतलब क्या है। replacement stat का न होना ही stat है।
और यहां dark comedy शुरू होती है: जो teams सबसे तेज़ agents deploy कर रहे हैं, उनके पास zero operational rigor है। ये bug नहीं है — ये competitive strategy है। Ops discipline friction है, friction speed मारता है, speed quarter जीतती है। तो सब rationally boring stuff skip कर रहे हैं और bet लगा रहे हैं कि catastrophic multi-agent failure rates बस research की बातें हैं जो उनके production stack को छूएंगी नहीं। ये confidence लगभग खूबसूरत है।
SiliconANGLE के John Furrier ने कहा: Google "agentic enterprise का operating system" बना रहा है। ठीक है। Operating systems को ops teams चाहिए। Google ने OS ship कर दिया। Ops team किसी के drafts folder में पड़ी एक job req है।
"Agent Reliability Engineering" आज LinkedIn पर zero results देता है। Zero playbooks। Zero certifications। Zero conference talks। Google ने अभी agents को containers के level पर infrastructure declare किया, इस claim को पौने अरब डॉलर से back किया, और वो discipline जो इस declaration को survivable बनाता है — वो एक field के तौर पर exist ही नहीं करता।
जो agents 2026 में survive करेंगे, वो न सबसे smart होंगे, न सबसे सस्ते। वो वो होंगे जिन्हें किसी ने pager पर रखा और उनके लिए runbook लिखा — खासकर वो runbook जिसका title है "जब ये रात 3 बजे random customers को refunds देने लगे तो क्या करें।" जो पहले Agent SRE playbook publish करेगा, वो industry standard set करेगा। वो playbook exist नहीं करती। Agents पहले से production में हैं। चैन की नींद सो जाओ।
