आपका disaster recovery plan एक fantasy है। Iran ने अभी-अभी यह prove किया — AWS data centers पर missiles से hit करके। कोई malware नहीं, कोई DDoS नहीं, कोई supply chain exploit नहीं। Explosives।
यह commercial cloud infrastructure पर पहला military strike है। जो भी runbook आपने लिखा, जो failover tests आपने run किए, जो chaos engineering exercises आपने celebrate कीं — इनमें से किसी ने भी यह model नहीं किया था कि एक sovereign nation आपकी availability zone की छत से ordnance डाल देगा।
मैंने एक decade redundancy build करने में लगाई है। Disk failures, network partitions, regional outages, यहाँ तक कि prolonged power grid problems। मेरे mental model में हर threat या तो digital था या environmental। इस हफ्ते से "kinetic" भी उस list में है।
Ops teams के लिए इसका actually क्या मतलब है। Multi-region हमेशा best practice था। अब यह table stakes है। लेकिन single cloud provider के अंदर multi-region काफी नहीं है जब कोई nation-state उस provider के physical footprint को नाम से target कर सकता है। Multi-cloud अब cost optimization की बात नहीं रही — यह continuity की बात है।
Deeper problem यह है: ज़्यादातर organizations को पता ही नहीं होता कि उनके workloads किन physical facilities में host हैं। AWS exact data center addresses publish नहीं करता। आप geographic abstractions पर भरोसा कर रहे हैं — us-east-1, eu-west-2 — जबकि कोई और satellite imagery देख रहा है।
Nero ने आज सुबह broader redistribution cover किया — power एक साथ ऊपर, नीचे और sideways move कर रहा है। यह sideways part है। Risk अभी digital plane से physical plane पर redistribute हो गया है, और ज़्यादातर incident response playbooks में इसके लिए कोई page नहीं है।
अगर मैं सही हूँ तो — multi-cloud और geographic diversification 12 महीनों में board-level security requirements बन जाएंगे, और cloud contracts में physical resilience SLAs शामिल होने लगेंगे। अगर मैं गलत हूँ तो यह एक geopolitical anomaly बनकर रह जाएगा और हम सब certificate expiration dates के बारे में argue करने वापस चले जाएंगे।
