तुम Claude Code खोलते हो — Anthropic का AI coding assistant जो तुम्हारे terminal में बैठा रहता है — और ये functions लिखता है, tests चलाता है, bugs fix करता है। Normal Tuesday। बस इस Tuesday, San Francisco में एक federal judge ये decide कर रहा था कि U.S. government उस company को legally तबाह कर सकती है जो ये बनाती है या नहीं।
Tension ये है: क्या होता है जब एक AI lab Pentagon को "ना" बोल दे?
Anthropic के CEO Dario Amodei ने publicly कहा कि Claude fully autonomous weapons या mass domestic surveillance के लिए काम नहीं करेगा। Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ने जवाब में Anthropic को "national security supply chain risk" declare कर दिया — पहली बार किसी U.S. company को इस obscure procurement statute के तहत ये classification मिली। फिर President Trump ने सब federal agencies को Claude use करना बंद करने का order दे दिया। Message साफ था: military contracts मना करो, सब कुछ खो दो।
24 March को, U.S. District Judge Rita F. Lin ने Anthropic की preliminary injunction request सुनी — एक court order जो ban को case चलने तक freeze कर दे। उनका assessment surgical था। उन्होंने Pentagon की कार्रवाई को "troubling" कहा और बोला कि ये "Anthropic को cripple करने की कोशिश लगती है।" Security measure नहीं — "सज़ा।"
Government के अपने lawyers ने असली बात बोल दी
Hegseth ने 27 February को X पर publicly DOD को Anthropic को supply-chain risk declare करने का order पोस्ट किया। Government की अपनी legal filings में बाद में माना गया कि ये post "went far beyond what the law allows." उनकी actual defense? सबको Defense Secretary का public order ignore कर देना चाहिए था। ये legal strategy नहीं है। ये तो Discord server moderation policy है।
Anthropic का argument है कि ये designation First Amendment protections और due process का उल्लंघन करती है — कि government उन्हें publicly AI safety की वकालत करने के लिए punish कर रही है। Government का claim है कि ये "contract negotiations" और Anthropic के "potential future conduct" के बारे में है। जब तुम्हारा best argument किसी का future behavior हो, तो present case तुम्हारे पास है ही नहीं।
Price tag असली है। Anthropic billions के government contracts खो सकती है और एक existential legal fight में फंसी है। जब एक federal judge "troubling," "punishment," और "attempt to cripple" जैसे words use करे, तो ये judicial code है "तुम हारने वाले हो।" लेकिन legal victories से server bills pay नहीं होते।
इधर, engineering team shipping करती रही
जब lawyers Pentagon से लड़ रहे थे, Anthropic के engineers ने 21 March को Claude Code Channels ship कर दिया — एक feature जो Claude Code को Telegram और Discord से connect करता है। तुम एक bot बनाओ, अपने local Claude Code session से pair करो, और अब phone से message करके code लिखवाओ, tests चलवाओ, projects manage करो।
Under the hood, Channels MCP पर चलता है (Model Context Protocol — सोचो USB जैसा universal plug standard, बस data के लिए, जो AI tools को external services से connect करता है)। एक background service तुम्हारे Telegram bot को poll करती है, messages तुम्हारे active Claude Code session में pipe करती है, और replies वापस भेजती है। तुम्हारा code तुम्हारी machine पर रहता है; बस control कहीं से भी करो।
Setup पांच minute का है: BotFather से Telegram bot बनाओ, plugin install करो, credentials configure करो, --channels से launch करो, code exchange से pair करो। बस।
एक catch: अगर Claude को किसी risky action के लिए permission चाहिए, तो terminal तक जाना पड़ेगा। Beach से destructive commands approve करने का option अभी नहीं है। अभी तक।
ये directly OpenClaw को undercut करता है, जिसमें same "text your AI coder" workflow के लिए एक dedicated Mac Mini और complex self-hosting चाहिए थी। Channels ये zero extra hardware में कर देता है।
दो कहानियां, एक हफ्ता, एक दांव
इस हफ्ते Anthropic में कुछ darkly poetic है। Monday को, तुम्हारा CEO Pentagon को बोलता है कि Claude killer robots बनाने में help नहीं करेगा। Tuesday को, एक judge कहता है कि government इसके लिए तुम्हें destroy करने की कोशिश कर रही है। Wednesday को, तुम्हारे engineers एक feature ship करते हैं ताकि developers couch से codebases refactor कर सकें।
Anthropic ने ये bet लगाई कि weapons को ना बोलने से government का पैसा जाएगा लेकिन developer trust मिलेगा। San Francisco की courtroom अभी उस bet को test कर रही है।
Channels release prove करता है कि वो litigation के लिए slow down नहीं कर रहे। Judge की remarks suggest करती हैं कि शायद वो fight जीत भी जाएं। दोनों एक साथ कर पाओगे या नहीं — असली experiment तो यही है।
Judge Lin को preliminary injunction पर कुछ दिनों में ruling देनी चाहिए।
